With just two days left to November 1 – NaNoWrMo – let’s consolidate some of the points I’ve been writing about.
1. Have you picked up the knack of WRITING INSTANTLY? If not, you can still do it. The moment you see a small window of space – just 5-10 minutes - start writing. Write about anything without stopping to think or correct. Do this several times a day.
2. Make sure you have writing materials with you at all times.
3. Get used to writing in different places.
4. Work out your optimum working times.
5. To create writing time: Delegate. Delegate. Delegate. Pay back after November.
6. Practice building word-nets around things, people, ideas.
7. Observe and describe everything in as much detail as you can.
If you master the Rapid-writing habit now, you can produce 500-1250 words a day in little pockets of time which would otherwise be wasted.
Add only TWO HOURS of writing time to that, without being a super-fast writer, and at around 500 words an hour you’ll easily complete your daily quota.
Give yourself the best chance. Let your imagination soar. If your mind is full of ideas the words WILL flow out on the torrent of thoughts.
Try the above, count up and see if you've made it to 1700 words.
